06.02.1946 г. Исполнительный Комитет Ленинградского городского Совета депутатов трудящихся принял решение №168-66 об организации в г. Ленинграде фабрики по производству граммофонных пластинок и обязал Исполком Московского Райсовета передать в аренду Комитета по делам искусств при СНК СССР производственные и подсобные помещения и территорию артели «Анилин-краситель» (ул. Цветочная, д.11). Основой производства послужило оборудование немецкого завода грампластинок Tempo, располагавшегося в Потсдаме-Бабельсберге под Берлином и вывезенного в СССР в 1946 году по репарациям. Выпуск первых пластинок был запланирован на 4 квартал 1946 года. Изначально планировалось выпускать 2-3 млн. пластинок в год, и потом передать дополнительные площади под застройку производственных корпусов для увеличения тиража до 10 млн. штук.

Ленинградский завод граммофонных пластинок образован по решению Совета Министров СССР от 21 мая 1946 г. №6592-Р

Торжественное открытие завода состоялось в 1948 году и завод выпустил 500 000 пластинок 1000 наименований.

Постановлением Совета Министров СССР от 01 июня 1949 г. и приказом Комитета по делам искусств при Совете Министров СССР №634/559 от 09 апреля 1949 г. завод был передан в ведение Комитета радиоинформации при Совете Министров СССР.

Постановлением Совета Министров СССР №988 от 28.03.1953 г. Завод был передан в ведение Главного управления производственных предприятий Министерства культуры СССР

Указом Президиума Верховного Совета СССР от 04.12.1954 г. заводу была передана экспериментальная фабрика граммофонных пластинок.

В 1956 году начат выпуск долгоиграющих грампластинок*.

В августе 1957 г. завод перешел в подчинение Управления химической промышленности Ленинградского Совета народного хозяйства (Ленсовнархоза) и стал называться «Аккорд».

В 1962 году начат выпуск стереофонических пластинок.*

Согласно постановлению Совета Министров СССР от 23 апреля 1964 г.,завод передан в подчинение Министерства культуры СССР.

По приказу Министерства культуры СССР от 11 июля 1964 г. завод включен в состав фирмы «Мелодия» под названием Ленинградский завод грампластинок Всесоюзной фирмы граммофонных пластинок «Мелодия».

В 1992 году на пластинках появляется название Санкт-Петербург и выходят последние пластики, а вскоре производство закрывается.*

4 августа 1993 г. образовано АООТ (потом ОАО,) «Петерфон». Которое занималось сдачей помещений в аренду и в 2017 прекратило своё существование.
