Наш сайт как-то не отметил 140-летие великого Шаляпина которое случилось 13 февраля. Трудно, очень трудно отыскать что-либо новое, и тем не менее. Это самая первая запись Шаляпина, правда радости мало, всего лишь гальванокопия самой первой записи.

No, between 1898 and 1900 Chaliapin privately recorded a number of cylinders, of which at least seven survived and are reissued on CD: http://www.symposiumrecords.co.uk/catalogue/1306

Wenn Du nur die Schallplattenaufnahmen meinst hast Du natürlich recht.

Is this really a "first edition"? I have my doubts. This disc is a stamper II pressing. The first edition was very likely a 10" Berliner.

No, it's stamper II galvanic copy printed about 1905.
