25 февраля (по некоторым источникам - 26 и даже 27) на окраине Неаполя, в бедном промышленном районе, в старом двухэтажном доме с лавочкой на первом этаже в семье рабочего-механика Марчелло Карузо и Анны Марии Бальдини-Карузо родился мальчик, прославивший и Неаполь, и всю Италию, и эту фамилию - Карузо. Отныне она станет символом бельканто.
