7" recordings of Sobinov, Figner and Vyaltzeva were actually issued before and/or early in 1902, but without a paper label. Hence you can find label-less (Berliner) pressings of the above from the new plant in Riga ("Reproduced in Russia"), put into operation about September 1902!

Angel backs

Stephan, I have at least two 107 mm black label discs with full Angel trademarks on the reverse. stamper II pressing G.C.-52323 by Nazzareno Franchi, which is not only 106 mm, but is on a raised plateau! Also first stamper G.C.-53217 by Rita Casini. Not to mention the Sobinov G.C.22519 Berliner, which has a full Angel back.

A misunderstanding is underlying your argumentation. Fact is, 7" recordings were issued as Berliners (without a paper label) several months longer than 10" recordings.
Therefore, as I wrote before, 7" issues of Figner and Vyaltzeva were first, in about February or March 1902, published as Berliners, achieving red label status after September 1902.

I also have a Sobinov Berliner with Angel on back, reproduced in Russia. Obviously our specimen were pressed in Riga September 1902 or a little later.
1901 pressings of Sobinov on 7" and 10" Berliners were pressed in Hanover and don't have the Angel back.
7" Berliners of Sobinov of early to mid-1902 and still pressed in Hanover should bear the Angel on back.

Flush backside?

This is the first issue with paper label. Is the backside completely flush or does it bear the "Recording Angel"?

Thank you very much. Your specimen supports my opinion that 7" GRAMOPHONE RECORD RED SEAL discs were pressed at the earliest in September 1902 when the Riga plant began to operate.
