You are quite wrong, for "Little Russia" or "Little Rus" is just a part of modern Ukraine (or former Ukranian SSR).

Besides, "Little Russia" is not a result of "Google Translation". It is a historical term used for the first time by Byzantine emperor John Kantakouzenos in the 14th century.

The main point here is cossack/kozachok, I agree. Spelled with ko-, because kazachok with ka- refers to a different (Russian) variant of the dance. However, Little Russian is an ideal and traditional equivalent to малороссийский as far as it is not fully interchangeable with украинский.

Our general guideline is to use the period names of the time of the recording. This is common practice and it is done on purpose because names can change many times and if we do not use the period names there will be endless discussion which name is correct and which one is not.

For instance St.-Petersburg was renamed to Petrograd then to Leningrad and then back to St.-Petersburg. Ukrainian is another case of name change. Before the February Revolution one can see the following terms on the labels: Russian, Ruthenian, Lemko and Little Russian. The terms Ukrainian started to appear on the labels only after February Revolution. After October Revolution on the labels appear only Ukrainian at least on records issued in USSR.
