Gung’l was born 01-12-1809 in Schambeck (near Ofen, now part of Budapest), a village founded and then inhabited by people from South Germany. His musical career almost entirely took place in the German parts of Austria and in other German countries. He named his composition in German language "Die Hydropathen".
