Identification of the original
During entire Chaliapin career, he recorded this song only once. In reality, there were 3 takes, all of them in Hayes with piano accompaniment by Max Rabinowitsch. The first two were made in October 9, 1921 (matrix numbers are Cc540-1 and Cc540-2). It looks like they were not successful, so in a day Chaliapin made the 3rd take that became the only official record. Apparently, Gramplasttrest did not have access to the original matrixes, so we can safely conclude that this record was re-issued from the sole official matrix.

(For identification I used F.I.Chaliapin discography by Alan Kelly published in The Record Collector magazine)
